Avoid if you are not looking for a super traditional Japanese company.
Besides confirming details on the resume, they basically only asked two questions: 1. Why Softbank? (From the HR) 2. What is the most difficult project you have worked on (From the ML department manager)? Then I got rejected because I didn't answer "Why Softbank" well enough...
All above can happen in any traditional Japanese company, however, I did encounter something I have never seen during interviews with other traditional Japanese companies:
1. The interviewers are simply asking questions like robots. When you answered the questions, all you got was something like "OK" or "I see". No follow-up questions or comments at all.
2. One interviewer was playing with his headphones when I was answering the question HE ASKED. Of course, all I got back was an "OK".
