I went through 6 phases of the interview process. 6!!! I was asked to do three presentations, on three separate occasions. I dedicated my time and I really put in a lot of effort. A week later, I received comms from the people that interviewed me that I am their preferred candidate. However, I still had one more interview to go through (the 6th one) with the Managing Director. This was the most disheartening interview I have ever had. Not only was her body language uninterested, but I was also accused of Googling information whilst I was in the virtual interview. Secondly, I was only told at this final phase that the company is relocating to Johannesburg (not that this is/was a problem). A month later, I received a phone call from HR mentioning that I was not successful and they have chosen to go with someone else. When? How? So they delayed response so that someone up top can offer the role to someone they like? And not someone who is deserving. For me, this entire process took two months. Within the first month, I was told I was the preferred candidate. But a month later, someone else was placed in the position. If HR and upper management already have their "preferred" candidate, they shouldn't take on any interviews. And certainly not waste people's time. I am highly disappointed with the way and manner I was treated. Utterly disgusting. No one should ever go through that!
