I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Smeco in Feb 2023
Interview
Originally I met them at a school career fair but I already had an internship for the summer lined up, so they reached back out after a year and a half to speak with me. Process consisted of a single phone call with 3 of their VP’s/Directors. Very relaxed and enjoyable interview. The topic was mainly on my resume and what I’m looking to do in the power industry. I received an offer right there on call and received information in an email after.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What sector of the power industry are you most interested in?
The process was easy enough. You don't interview with the people you'll be directly working with though, so you don't get a feel for your every day work life. You also don't get to see the work place until you're hired.
I applied through university. I interviewed at Smeco (Hughesville, MD) in Apr 2019
Interview
It was four people and they asked general EE questions, and this went on for about 20 minutes., and I was handed a surprise test about 4-6 pages that included a letter that I had to write to order a part from a vendor. The test was difficult for someone who has no experience in the power systems industry. I had to come up with a best guess for most of the questions based on what I already know.
