Wow. I had completely forgotten about this place until an open position popped up while I was doing some recent Glassdoor research. I was a 10-year PR professional looking to relocate back to PA after a stint in NYC. My background was very similar to the practices areas in which SmartMark allegedly works (energy, telecomm, etc.), although truthfully, I had never heard of these people. Might be why the CEO herself reached out and insisted I come in "ASAP" to interview.
At the time, they had a small, unimpressive office and very few staff. She and I talked about trade shows we had both worked, and I showed her some of the research and white papers I had generated. She struck me as a bit curt, but coming from NYC, that sort of thing doesn't bother me. The interview lasted about an hour, and was quite conversational.
I followed up with a "thank you for your time" email, and got radio silence. My thinking was that I was probably too expensive for her. In reading these reviews, it looks like that was a good thing. I am now a communications director at a large technology company, have the authority to hire outside agencies, and can guarantee that SmartMark will never receive our business.
