I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Smarkets in Sept 2023
Interview
Applied, received Hackerrank, 3 questions in 75 mins, 1 easy, 1 medium, 1 hard. All test cases passed on first, only half for each of the remaining 2. Not good enough and wasn't progressed to next stage.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1. Merge 2 sorted arrays 2. Find the length of the shortest substring whose combination of anagrams would result in the initial string. Ex: 'abbaab' could be done from anagrams of 'ab' or 'ba', so length 2. 'abbbabbba' can be done from anagrams of 'abb' so length 3 and so on. 3. One array of size n with index showing task id and value showing task memory taken to process task. Another array of size n with index showing task id and value showing task type. System can execute a task in 1 time, or two tasks of the same type in paralel in 1 time, as long as the sum of their memory taken is less than maximum memory. Given these details for a list of tasks, find the most efficient way to execute them and return number of times it takes.

Interview
All very standard. Phone screen, codility, 2 in person interviews. Final interview was with CEO who has a bit of a reputation. Was screened for not being a good culture fit (whatever that means).

What's the probability of getting at least 1 six from 10 rolls of 5 dice?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Smarkets in Sept 2024
Interview
First was recruiter screening, just questions on your current situation and what you're looking for. The second stage was two leetcode style questions (1 easy & 1 easy/medium). The third stage was a backend-style question. The question itself was straightforward but you needed to get the optimal solution within the given time (without wasting time). I made a silly mistake early on (wasting time) but still got 14/15 test cases passed but wasn't good enough. Everyone was very friendly, communicative, quick to respond and most importantly gave feedback after the interviews.
