Skidmore, Owings & Merrill Junior Designer interview questions

The interview felt genuinely welcoming and relaxed. From the start, they emphasized the cross-disciplinary nature of the firm, which really resonated with me. I appreciated how they weren’t just focused on technical skills but were genuinely curious about the ideas behind my projects. The conversation flowed naturally, and I felt like they were interested in how I think and how my background could bring something unique to their team. It made me even more excited about the possibility of working in a place that values diverse perspectives and open dialogue.

Interview went for about an hour and 45 mins. Discussed about my portfolio for the majority of the time. There 2 people interviewed me. In general they asked questions about my portfolio pertaining to the typology and the process of each project. At the end we spoke things in general relating to architecture which was fun.
