      Interview

Straightforward process with quick response times. The company does a good job of structuring their interview process to assess your skills and experience. The team is transparent and clearly answer any questions you may have.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Melbourne
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sitemate (Melbourne) in Dec 2024

      Interview

The interview process is fairly straight forward, but you mostly get automated and generic emails. No phone calls or anything of that king until the 3rd round. If you don't get to the 4th and final round they also just give you a generic email without any feedback whatsoever. In short, Sitemate is a really cool product, and on the surface it seems like a half decent company. But to not provide feedback on what went wrong after investing 3+ hours and 3 rounds of interviews should be illegal and you should be ashamed of this practice of sending a generic email in this instance. I will post all of the questions here for this role, hope it helps someone prepare well in the future, good luck!

      Interview questions [8]

      Question 1

      ### The question or the 2nd round challenge was: **Introduction** - The company you work at has a mobile app - The purpose of the app is to help workers run projects and track tasks **Challenge** Your challenge is to create a mobile app screen for a new search and filtering function, and record a 2-minute explainer video of the design and how you would work with an engineer to deliver this feature. - You will need to use [Figma](https://www.figma.com/) to create the design - You will need to use [Loom](https://cdn.jotfor.ms/khanhtr/Loom) to record the explainer video **Notes** - The design should be presentable to prospective users, not just a wireframe (high fidelity) - Industry knowledge is not required or being assessed - Consider how you would collaborate with one engineer to ensure the design can be implemented effectively and efficiently. - Include how you would stage the implementation of this feature - i.e - How would break up the functionality to deliver the full feature over multiple releases? - What steps would you take from design to delivery to ensure smooth implementation and timely delivery? **Submission:** - Figma screen design: paste the share link URL to the screen design in the submission page (you can get this by selecting your screen in Figma, clicking ‘Share’ and then clicking ‘Copy link’) - Loom Recording: paste your Loom video's URL in the submission page (you can get this by clicking ‘Copy link’ on your recorded Loom video page)

      Answer question

      Question 3

Who would be making the who would be making the executive decisions or like who are your stakeholder managers?
      Answer question

      Question 4

And what did an average day look like? And how was like work organized and prioritised?
      Answer question

      Question 5

What are you looking for in your next role? And how does this role meet your goals?
      Answer question

      Question 6

What experience have you had in product delivery process? How are you involved in the product development cycle and like with breaking down the features or iterating iterative delivery?
      Answer question

      Question 7

Can you walk us through your design process, like conceptual to the final product?
      Answer question

      Question 8

The 3rd interview also had a technical part where they test your mind more than anything, there were 3 parts to this: 1. Build a user sign up flow for a hypothetical app (no example of the app given, they just want a generic user sign up flow, a bit tricky but doable). 2. Refresh the UI of an automation tool, just give your ideas on what you would change and why. 3. The last exercise is connected to the 2nd one, you need to decide which UI changes should be developed first and which ones last. So basically prioritise your UI change decisions...

      27 Nov 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sitemate in Nov 2024

      Interview

Average experience, automated responses. They have several stages of interviews. After writing long answers about skills and experience, the second round was about a design challenge. The process was quite automated with a simple tax although be ready to spend a few hours on it. The worst thing could happen? Automated reply stating that the interview slots for next round are full! WHATTTTTT? Are you serious? Is it a restaurant that tables are full? You can't have that as a rejection email when people spend their crucial hours in these times. Such a red flag of a company! I'm glad I didn't make it.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about our recruitment process. We genuinely value input from candidates like you as it helps us improve and ensure a better experience for everyone. We understand how frustrating it can be to receive an automated response, especially after dedicating significant time and effort to the application process. We use automation to ensure that all candidates receive timely communication, particularly because we handle a high volume of applications. That said, your point about the tone and clarity of our rejection email is well taken, and we’ll review it to make sure it’s as clear and respectful as possible. I wanted to clarify a point you mentioned about the rejection email. It seems there may have been a misunderstanding, as the email did state that “multiple candidates with more relevant experience have progressed to the next stage.” This was intended to explain the reason for the decision, rather than suggest that interview slots were unavailable. We will take your feedback on board to ensure the messaging is even clearer in the future. Once again, we appreciate the time and effort you invested in applying to Sitemate. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors!
