Interview
Insane interview process for an HOURLY position. Way to make it clear you don't value the position or the candidate. When I pushed back on why it was hourly, they said it's "basically a proposal and we're giving you the ring, but want to make sure it's the right fit". Sorry, but that's unacceptable in this economy.
I had six, yes SIX, interviews for an Art Director position that would start hourly, and at an insulting rate of $30 an hour.
The first 3 interviewers were lovely (HR, Sr AD and CD). Then, they asked me to do a mock presentation - which I was happy to do, that's par for the course for some agencies and shows off your work capabilities. I thought that would be enough for them to get a sense of who I was, but no. 3 more interviews.
The interview with the CEO was so unauthentic. He was reading off of a ChatGPT script of questions that felt very junior, asking about my personality instead of much of anything related to my work experience. Again, would maybe make sense for a more junior position, but not someone with reputatable agency experience.
Then I had a FINAL interview (number 6 at this point) with someone I had already met. I thought it would be just to answer any clarifying / administrative questions. Nope! Full on interview for a 6th time. Weird questions too, like "If we didn't hire you and you went out to drinks with your friends, what would you tell them they were missing out on?" to which I essentially replied with, "If you don't know what you're missing out on at this point, I don't know what else to tell you".
All that to say, we came to a mutual decision that it wasn't the right fit lol.

Interview
Multiple rounds of interviews, beginning with a screener, then a few rounds of other 1:1 interviews and work samples, then a panel interview. Work sample questions were fairly easy. The vibe definitely varied by the person/people that was interviewing, with one or two being much more direct and formal than the others.

Very comforting and informative. very good questions that i felt prepared for but also made me think about my answer. Allowed me think creatively while also using my opinions and interests.
