My interview with Silktide was incredibly disappointing. I dedicated the entire week... preparing, researching the company and its services. In both my resume and cover letter, I clearly mentioned that while I lacked direct experience in a BDR role, I had "XYZ" skills and 8 years of Sales experience that would make me a strong candidate for the position. I was invited for an interview, and I assumed they had reviewed my resume and were interested in learning more about me. God, was I wrong. At the start of the interview, this lady asks me if I have experience as a BDR which I said no and she goes " Oh.... we are looking for someone with experience". In the back of my head, I was like "what am I doing here then? did you even look at my resume? " then throughout the interview she barely let me talk about my past experiences in Sales and she mentioned at least 3 times she is looking for someone with experience because she will not have time to train anyone (why did you call me for the interview then?) and the fact you don't have time to train anyone is a red flag. She could have asked me anything about the company and its offerings, and I would have been able to answer. She could have even challenged me with a role play, which I was fully prepared for. Another thing that bothered me was how unhappy she seemed. She didn't smile once during the entire interview, and I'm someone who values working in an environment with a positive work culture. Even if they offered me the role, I would have rejected it. Of course, I ended up getting rejected anyway since I didn't have the exact experience they were looking for, even though I clearly outlined my skills and background in my resume and cover letter. It felt like I was the only one who actually did their homework before the interview.
