      SQL Developer Interview

      10 Mar 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Sideshow in May 2019

      Interview

Interviewed on two separate occasions for similar job roles. In both cases the person or persons interviewing were not prepared. They did not have a list of questions written down. They did not appear to have read the resume enough before the interview as any questions asked were open ended "Tell us about yourself type questions" and a few "tell us about some projects you were proud of type questions". The interviewer did not seem motivated, so interview felt like a sales pitch about my background. I had to probe them for what their needs were beyond the basic job description. You really had to just talk about yourself to keep the interview going. Very few technical questions, and those that were asked were kind of generic. The two interviews were in different years, so this causal interview technique may be their style. Interview felt like more like a blind date and they were checking you out to see if you fit their mold. In both cases I was told they would get back to me within a week. Even though I suggested they could contact me any time if they had further questions (as interviews are sometimes short on time), I never heard back from them after a week went by. Emailing them to find out the status of if they had questions or what the next steps were did not get any response. For a small company, that behavior is a bit odd.
