Interview
This is an informal round with the recruiter. Depending on the seniority of the role, there might not be any call with HR. From speaking to a handful of internship applicants, Shopee seems to skip this round if you are applying for internship positions.
The recruiter will ask you to share more about your resume and experiences. This is also a great opportunity to share your non-work-related coding experiences. For example, experience in competitive programming, open-source contributions or writing technical articles. Doing so will help you stand out among other applicants!
The recruiter will share more details about the company and the roles that are open. In addition, you will also learn more about what you can expect from the interview processes and the types of questions that you will be asked during the interviews.
Behavioural interview with HR. Not too hard, but prepare for answers in English. The interview is conducted fully in English. The HRBP is friendly and nice, but is in a rush towards the end.
The initial interview process was really all about HR asking questions to know more about the applicant. The usual tell me about yourself and what makes you fit for this role questions came up.
The whole process takes around 2 weeks, starts with HR screening call, then a case study exam, followed by 2 more online interviews. Managed to proceed to the first online interview before being GHOSTED lol. The interviewer is unprofessional and you can genuinely tell they don’t wanna be there. Also, be careful of the “tips” the recruiter sent to you prior to the interview as it can be misleading and doesn’t reflect the interview process. Overall is a waste of time for the applicants.
