Submitted on LinkedIn, received an email from their manager the next day. So that was pretty fast. SEO Manager emailed me a link to complete the SEO test. Test was pretty easy honestly. SEO Manager was also pleasant to talk to, he even put in his remarks after reviewing my answers, on my request.
So, I passed the interview and SEO Manager contacted me via email again and wanted to invite me for an interview. Talent acquisition executive contacted me via Whatsapp saying that they would like to have a phone interview with me. That was a bit weird though cause firstly 2 person contacted me saying that they would like to interview me. So this shows that there was no proper communication between them on who should be the one to contact me. Secondly, I have never been contacted via Whatsapp for an interview! I don't know how to feel about that honestly.
Phone interview was scheduled for 30 mins and the Talent Acquisition Executive called me via Whatsapp. Phone interview questions was mostly on why I would like to join Shopback and sharing what I did during my internship. He was yawning over the phone and he was trying to rush the questions.
5 days later, they told me to come down for 2 rounds of onsite interview. Again, this was done via Whatsapp and they did not gave me the address for the interview. They just mentioned "Shopback Office".
First interview was with the SEO Manager that contacted me and one other guy who did not introduce what his role was. He was the content writer and I know this because I did my research before the interview. 2nd interview was around 10 mins after the 1st round of interview. I was taken aback cause i thought 2 rounds of interview meant 2 different days. So needless to say, I guess I wasn't really prepared for the 2nd round.
However there was an internal miscommunication between them and the one who was supposed to interview me was not there. So they invited 2 random people down to interview me. There were also not prepared to interview me and they mentioned that they had to "fill in the space". Interview was meh. They didn't know what to ask and I felt that whatever i shared with them from the research that I did, they did not even know and therefore, they did not appreciate that. For eg, they did not know that shopback was expanding into Vietnam. If the VP have sat in for the interview instead, she would have know. Inteviewer mentioned that some people go back as late as 2 am! I guess they are overworked there. Even the content writer yawned during the first round of interview. Interview was scheduled at 9am.
After the interview, had a small informal chat with SEO Manager and then it's done.
