      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Shipwire

      Interview

Worked through an external recruiter for this process. Started process 7/12 with decision communicated on 8/22. Screen with the recruiter + 4 interviews. After my screen and 1st interview I was informed this was a hybrid role (2 times on site) and we agreed not proceed without getting more information. I made it clear I would not do daily (5+ hour round trip for a single day) but open to doing monthly with back to back days. After conversations with the recruiter / company the process continued. Didn't find out till after the 2nd interview hybrid piece was still up in air but believed the company to be flexible so the process continued. After conversations it seemed that the hybrid weekly role could be moved to monthly. During my follow-up interviews I asked about the hybrid nature and the interviewers didn't think monthly would be an issue (other candidates were not close to the location) and indicated its pretty flexible today. I completed the process and the company was working on hybrid options. After completing the interview process, I was informed Shipwire's Executive team decided to make explicit rules for the hybrid nature in which is required to be on site Tuesday / Thursday. They offered to be flexible to have me on site 2-3 hours each day to compensate for the drive, which means 12 hour commute for 4-6 hours of time with the team each week - didn't seem logical as its a lot of time to be paid to be on the road vs actual work. However after that the team was still looking into it and at the same time still contacted my references twice. It wasn't till a week or so after all of this that I was informed that Shipwire is sticking to their original hybrid plan which was disappointing as I feel its a great opportunity. Overall I like the company and wish them the best but feel if the hybrid nature requirements were nailed down at the beginning it would have saved all parties (3rd party recruiter, the company, myself, my references) many hours of time, effort, research, communications, etc.
