I applied online and followed up with the hiring manager on LinkedIn. The process included two back to back interviews on the same day. One was with the hiring manager and the other with a peer manager on the team. Both conversations focused on understanding my background, how I approach consumer insights, and how I work with cross functional teams. The interviews were conversational and centered around real examples from past work experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q: Tell us about a time when consumer insights directly influenced a product or business decision.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SharkNinja (Newton, MA) in Feb 2017
Interview
The interview process started with a phone call between me and the director of consumer insights, who was working remotely at the time. That phone call was followed up with a request for an in-person interview at the Shark-Ninja offices, which was scheduled about 2 weeks out. There, I interviewed with two senior team members, and one person outside of the consumer insights group. The interview process was pretty typical -- questions about my experience in the field, strengths and weaknesses, understanding of the role, etc. It was capped off with a "test" of sorts. They asked me to review some raw data/findings and come up with insights I would present to stakeholders. There was also a personality test that reminded me of a Myers-Briggs tool. The total interview time was about 4 hours start to finish. I received an offer about a week later.
