Sequoia is an amazing company. I spent quite a bit of time researching them and it truly appears that they try to live up to their company motto. The interview is a 3 step process. The first interview is with the Asst. Vp of Human Resources. Please note, Sequoia DOES NOT have its candidates fill out an official application and interview off of that so it's IMPERATIVE that you check your resume for accuracy and answer the questions as honestly as possible in this step. You WILL NOT get another chance to make corrections. This is not a simple screening with a recruiter necessary to get in front of the hiring manager. This is a verbal application. The second step is an interview with the VP of operations who came across as personable, knowledgeable, and had a clear understanding of what she was looking for in a candidate and where she wanted to take the company in the future. The final step is with the Vp of Operations and the VP of Hr. The final interview is more HR centered. After that, Sequoia makes their selection and asks you to fill out the background info. Again, this is not an application so dates, education, etc need to mirror what was given in the screening. They WILL RESCIND the offer even if the information provided is not a requirement of employment. Its about trust and hiring the right fit. Unfortunately, I made this mistake. Thinking that some info I gave about my educational background wasn't relevant or a determining factor for the job, I gave the short answer that wasn't entirely accurate because I thought I would be able to give a full explanation when and if I got in front of the hiring manager. Well it never came back up and I honestly didn't think about it until I filled out my background information ACCURATELY and the Asst. VP of Hr called me and rescinded not because I didn't meet the requirements but because I wasn't accurate in the initial screening interview It's too bad I won't be joining their team because I would have CRUSHED it. Sequoia, you can avoid having to rescind on a great candidate who was really ready to come in and make an impact by having all candidates fill out an official application prior to interviewing like most companies. That way, everybody is on the same page and you can have candidates sign stating that the information is accurate and nobody wastes their time by.
