I heard back very quickly from Sense after my application. We set up a phone interview, but it seemed like the recruiter was trying to put words in my mouth and not really hearing me. It was clear no one actually reviewed my application until the actual interview (in other words, they rely a lot on their ATS). I was also worried because they said this position had very little to do with Machine Learning, despite its title.
Nevertheless, I left the phone call with a 99.9% expectation of hearing back because I was curious and was told to expect an invite to a technical interview next. I was less than excited because at this point I was half expecting a bait and switch based on the mismatch of the title & skills they need.
Well, they never got back to me, despite several follow-up attempts. Yet another company that ghosts people because they don't have time to reply, are afraid of sending a "sorry" message or want to put us on the back burner. Businesses and especially ethical tech startups in particular should stop this abhorrent practice.
