      Interview

Very Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience The process took about a month and a half, which I find extremely long. It began with a 30-minute screening during which I was asked some technical questions. They were fairly simple, and honestly, that was the only part of the process that felt reasonable to me — everything else raised huge red flags. After the screening, I didn’t receive any feedback for over a week, even though I was promised a response within three days. I had to follow up myself by emailing to ask whether I had moved forward. The person I contacted who also conducted the screening didn’t reply at all. Instead, I received an email from someone listed as a recruiter, inviting me to a technical interview. Okay, I booked a slot. The interview itself felt very friendly, and I answered all the questions. I felt the outcome was quite clear and should have been positive. By the way, the recruiter could have joined the interview at the very least to introduce themselves or provide some context about feedback but no one showed up. I asked my questions about feedback directly to the interviewer, but they understandably couldn’t give me any concrete answers. After this stage, about a week and a half passed with no communication (even though the feedback timeline for each step is clearly stated on the company’s website as no more than three days). Again, I had to follow up myself. I emailed the recruiter but no reply for several days. I then tried contacting the sourcer from the first stage again — no reply. Instead, a third person appeared, another recruiter. They didn’t provide any feedback either, but promised to get back to me soon. That never happened. Eventually, I was informed that I had successfully passed the technical interview and that the team matching process was underway specifically, that discussions were happening with various teams. Then came another two weeks of silence. I reached out again, and once more received no reply for several days. At that point, I clearly started to feel that something wasn’t right, though I was still hoping that if something had gone wrong or wasn’t progressing, they would let me know. But no finally, after a few more days, I received a generic rejection letter with a lot of text, saying that unfortunately they had decided to move forward with other candidates. No specific reason was provided, despite the fact that I had successfully passed the technical interview. If the tech stack I worked with wasn’t a match for the team, that should have been clearly stated in the job description — not something you discover after the technical round. The overall performance of the sourcers and HR was very poor. No one proactively reached out, responses were always delayed, and I was honestly both sad and surprised that I was interacting with representatives of a well-known company yet apparently employing such unprofessional staff. Be aware: successfully passing the technical interview means absolutely nothing. You may not even be told why you were rejected in the end. A very negative and disappointing experience overall.

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Semrush in Dec 2025

      Interview

I had an initial call, and after that I was rejected with the reason “we’re looking for someone more senior.” I have a strong CV and a lot of experience. Even if the recruiter had simply said “it wasn’t a good fit,” I would have been fine with that, but the stated reason felt untrue — which makes me think the company may not really value transparency or high standards
