      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      4 Oct 2020
      Anonymous employee
      Cambridge, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Secondmind (Cambridge, England) in Jan 2019

      Interview

An initial phone interview to assess viability, followed by a take home coding challenge (4-8hours) and finally an in person interview. The in person interview lasts most of a day. You must do a presentation on something relevant to start (approx 45mins), followed by a few separate one-on-one interviews which cover a few areas (for example, one is a whiteboard based technical interview if you apply for an engineering role). Lots of work needed (code challenge plus interview presentation) is the downside. Presentations bias for more extroverted types. One on one's were good though; much nicer than sitting opposite a few people at once.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How would you solve (x) technical problem (involving recursion, not too complex)
