      System Engineer Interview

      1 Nov 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Valley Village, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Screen Engine/ASI (Valley Village, CA) in Oct 2022

      Interview

I applied to the System Engineer position through a job posting on Indeed. The company use a recruiter for potential candidates so I had to first talk to a recruiter who was very helpful and had the best interest for me. After I told the recruiter what was minimum salary range and what I was expecting, he forwarded that information over to the company. I did a Zoom interview with the CTO which was just going over my experience, skills and etc. The second Zoom interview was with the CTO again and someone from their IT team as well, the interview was schedule for 45 minutes but we spent nearly an hour and 30 minute before the zoom session was force to close. This is where more technical questions were asked but it wasn't too bad. The feedback I got so far was all good and the recruiter said I was in their top choice. The third interview was onsite, I was given a tour of the building and also their workflow of doing things. I met the people on the technical team and also other people in different departments as well. They asked some more questions on AWS, Windows and networking scenarios as well. After I completed the third interview, I was told I should hear back with an offer or just a status update. I heard back from the recruiter and the company asked if I would take less than what I communicated I wanted. I told the recruiter no and he said that they told him that's their max offer they could give. So I declined the offer because I already told the recruiter what I wanted which was in the salary range of the job posting and the recruiter also relay that information to the company as well. I was excited about this company and joining them because I felt I could contribute to help them exceed in their goals and also learn as well. But I was disappointed when they asked me to take less especially when it was communicated to them about my salary range and especially after taking the time to do 3 interviews.
