I interviewed at Schoolhouse.world (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
Great experience interviewing with this company. Hiring manager was responsive. There was a compensated take-home assignment. Opportunity to talk with many cross-functional team members. Was informed of no-offer decision in a gracious way with explanation about why they went with another candidate.

Question 1
How would you reason through this development strategy from a business perspective?
Amazing how a company like this gets away with age discrimination. Imagine telling someone with at least 20 years of tutoring and teaching experience that they are not qualified for the position...then they hire some teacher with minimal years of teaching. Applicants should look at the team page before they apply, everyone is under the age of 45...with very little actual teaching experience. These education start ups are a joke and are really a ploy to hire friends or friends of friends. Use caution. Most of the employees have no real experience teaching.
15 min phone screen: Interviewers just want to understand why you want to join Schoolhouse.world because it's a very mission-oriented company. 45 min portfolio review (1-2 projects): Pretty standard portfolio review so present your case studies and there will be follow-up questions. 1hr whiteboarding challenge: Pretty open-ended prompt.
