I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Scheels (Johnstown, CO) in Jul 2017
Interview
Initial interview was a phone call with basic questions about job history. Second interview was with HR, questions about my hobbies, volunteer work, favorite product that scheels sells. Make sure you have done research on the company, and what they sell, and their culture of giving back. After second interview I was given the aptitude test. You must do some simple math, correct some sentences with grammar and spelling mistakes and write a paragraph letter to a customer. Third interview was asking what strengths and weaknesses I'd bring to the cashier job. And at the end they offered me 2 different positions to choose from since I was a good fit for both.
Typically they do two-three interviews, and seem to focus on if you are a cultural fit more than direct applicable knowledge. The interviewers were all friendly, and they respond quickly.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at Scheels (Kansas City, MO) in Feb 2026
Interview
1 phone interview, 4 in person interviews, and it took over 3 months for them to finalize paperwork. I was offered a position, but immediately felt outcasted for asking for basic accommodations due to my health, only for them to tell them that I wasn’t able to get these accommodations. I was told also that my makeup could be considered possibly out of dress code (winged liner and mascara???). Maybe just this location, but I felt so uncomfortable that I didn’t accept the job.

Question 1
What is the most difficult situation you’ve ever been in?
was very simple behavior, with a quick basic math assessment. Interviewers are very nice, can be one one- on- one or with multiple people. not very hard, in my opinion, big focus on availability .
