I was contacted online after submitting my resume and portfolio. We engaged in a short phone screen. The interviewer requested some speculative work from me as part of the application process. They emailed me a pitch, keywords, and basic background information. They failed to disclose at any point that this work was for a current client which they could conceivably use as unpaid work. After submitting it I was turned down a few days later.
