There are a number of steps to the interview process for becoming a cadet at SMPD. First a a basic interview is held, then a background check is done and lastly there is an interview with the chief. The overall process is not difficult but it is long, as the background check takes a long time to complete and verify. Additional checks and verifications are done as necessary. The salary for a cadet is approx. 12.50 an hour, with a maximum number of hours that can be completed a week.
