      Sales Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Sanmina in Mar 2010

      Interview

I interviewed for a sales position at Sanmina. With the benefit of hindsight, I have to say they were a somewhat misleading organization. Pretty much straightforward HR-wise - phone interviews, 1 on 1 interviews, etc. As part of my own due diligence I discovered a lot of unpleasant surprises with the position, and decided I would decline going forward with the interview process. I think this is common for companies whose business model is centered around pure contract manufacturing. There really isn't a "moat" or competitive advantage around the business, so it wins accounts almost all the time on price alone. Thus, what incentive is there to hire the brightest and the best? None, really, as being the cheapest is all that really counts. Keep that in mind when interviewing with organizations like this. Also, be sure to do your own due diligence prior to accepting a job with a contract manufacturer, as they operate on razor-thin margins and thus have strong incentives to cut costs everywhere they can.
