I interviewed at Sanity.io (Copenhagen, Capital Region)
Interview
1.- Talent Acquisition Partner Interview
I first spoke with the Talent Acquisition Partner, who was warm and knowledgeable. They gave a clear overview of the company and the role, and we discussed my background briefly, along with salary expectations.
2.- Support Director Interview
The second stage was with the Support Director. This felt more like a conversation than a formal interview. They asked about my experience and work processes, and they were incredibly kind and attentive—even when I tended to talk a lot!
3.- Technical Interview (Support Director + Support Lead)
For the final stage, I had a technical interview with the Support Director and Support Lead. They provided information in advance to help prepare, which I appreciated. During the interview, they presented a case study and asked me to walk through my approach, as well as discuss responsibilities related to the role. Unfortunately, I didn’t perform as well as I would have liked. I went blank at times/forgot previous experience, so I didn’t progress to the next stage.
Outcome & Feedback
I had my final interview on a Friday and received a response by Tuesday. The rejection message was thoughtful, kind, and included helpful feedback, which I truly appreciated.
Overall Impression
Everyone I met throughout the process was really kind, helpful, and down-to-earth. There was a strong sense of low ego and positive energy across the team. Based on my experience, it seems like a great place to work and grow.
I met with a recruiter over Zoom. She was very easy to talk to, and very sharp. She highlighted potential concerns about my work history in a very tactful way, and allowed me time to frame it positively. She allowed me to ask questions and gave thoughtful answers, including "I can't say with certainty relative to the support team, but I encourage you to ask the hiring manager the same question. He will be better equipped to answer."
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why Support engineering rather than pure Product engineering?
The interview process began with an initial recruiter screen, followed by two separate interviews with directors. Communication was professional throughout, and the process moved efficiently, though I was ultimately rejected after the final round.
