I applied online. I interviewed at Samsara in Mar 2021
Interview
Insanely long process - decide if you want to spend hours of your valuable time only to get a super generic automated response about not moving forward (an email that you'd expect to get if you were just flat out rejected by their system). After going through 4 rounds there was no call from the recruiter, no email, etc. The whole process is 5 rounds - first was a phone call with the hiring manager. If you pass that, you have a take home assignment. Several questions where you can easily spend many hours on. (Only to find out that the assignment is never discussed in your interviews, and that it's actually outdated information). If you pass that, they set up 4 video interviews with related teams/members. If you pass that it's another 4 interviews again. Last step is a final phone call which I did not make it too. The whole process took about 2 months from when I applied to receiving the auto email.

Interview
Several rounds after the initial screening, but there is quite a wait in between rounds. Ideally would like things to move along a bit quicker. Interviewers where professional and pleasant to talk to.

They asked about primary residence as it determines if they will let you work from there or not.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Samsara (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2019
Interview
After the phone screener with a third-party recruiter, had a phone call with the hiring manager. It went well and I was given an excel homework assignment to do in 48 hours. After that I received an invitation for a panel interview - 2 hours long with 4 people. Then a second panel interview the same length.
You meet with a variety of finance team members, ranging widely in experience and position in the company - everyone was sharp, engaging, and prepared for the interviews. It was a relatively tough interview process, some of the questions that were asked seemed to be looking for one specific answer that wasn't obvious. Other interviewers would drill deep into what your experience and skills are with lots of questions. It was tough, but fair.
The recruiting and HR internal staff at Samsara are incredibly nice, they have everything prepared for you when you get in office. By far the best experience I've had with a recruiting team while interviewing. They are also lightning fast at moving the process forward and communicating.
Despite not getting the job, its clear that this is a company that knows what they are doing, and is filled with bright, passionate talent. Would recommend interviewing here 100%.
