I received a short notice request for a first interview that was in person with no indication that I would be reimbursed for my travels. I replied and said well I'm living several states away and I wouldn't be able to attend a person or short notice can we do a virtual. I got a reply within 24 hours saying oh no it must be in person and there aren't any other dates available and good luck on your job search. Most of the interviews with this company first interview is in virtually especially after covid so I'm not sure why they thought in person for the first interview one makes sense especially when you have candidates from All over America applying for these positions. You need to do better SUNY BEOC
The first interview is on zoom. it is with a committee from the department I was applying for. it lasted about 45 minutes. First they told m about the school and the program then there were questions
I applied online. I interviewed at SUNY in Feb 2025
Interview
After an initial phone call, there was a zoom interview with a panel. They asked a lot of standard questions of the role, but a few that weren't really expected of the role. I was asked to come into the office for a second interview along with a "small" project that needed to be completed in less than 48 hours. I attended the in-person interview, which seemed to go well. I left the meeting with their request for my references, but I was informed it would be a longer process, and that I should have a final answer by the end of March/early April. Around that time, I reached out since I hadn't heard back and they told me they were still figuring it out and I would definitely have a final answer the first week of April. Instead of giving me that final decision, they simply ghosted me. Although most of the panel interviewers were nice and asked reasonable questions, there was one individual who seemed eager to make the interview more difficult/wanted a "gotcha" moment. Overall, negative experience from a place that is supposed to prestigious.
