The process was enjoyable. I first spoke with Rick Powell, a technical recruiter specialist with the company and, after moving through a first round interview, progressed to a conversation with Oleg Umanskiy, the chief software architect for the company. The first round interview featured a conversational back and forth over my skills and experiences, while the second interview was a more in-depth conversation regarding my abilities and what I would be able to add for the company. In my particular case, I was looking to make a career change and sought out the opportunity with Mr. Powell after industry research. Being a small company they were looking to fill a tech PM role and devops role into one position, and again being a career changer, I feel it was my lack of devops experience which held me from continuing into a role with the company. Mr. Umanskiy was very up-front during our conversation that he would need to justify to his boss(es) a position for an individual like myself given that they are a smaller, focused, niche company and gave me an opportunity to sell myself into their needs. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do so, though I appreciate the candor they held with me for the position, it's combined devops duties, and I never felt like I was shut-out during the process and I walked away feeling like I had a fair chance for my level of experience and my abilities. I would interview again here, if contacted for an opportunity, as they seemed like a very intelligent and focused group of professionals.
