I applied online. I interviewed at SMERU Research Institute
Interview
A panel interview featuring editors, researchers, and (one or two) management representatives. In my experience, the interview took part right after the skills test (editing & translating text in both Indonesian and English), so make sure you still have some energy to form coherent sentences. If I remember correctly, The interview was around 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standard questions: self-introduction, work experience and how it relates to smeru's scope of work, and how much you know about smeru. They'd particularly highlight your experience working at a think-tank/nonprofit/educational institution (if any), and what kind of academic papers you have worked on. I think in my case they also asked what kind of difficulties I had encountered as a translator/editor and how I overcame them.
Fyi, an editor usually has to translate as well, hence the questions and test on translation.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at SMERU Research Institute in Oct 2020

Interview
The hiring process feels very unprofessional. It takes one months interval between application closing time and invite for apps trial and test. There are a clear timeline explained but the hiring team seem like prefer not to stick with it. Also, it is very unpleasant when you got notified email in 9 p.m. informed you that you are eligible to the next phase. Last but not least, the time for the test also take a place on 5-9 p.m. I just wondering why not to choose on the work time?
