I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Runa (London, England)
Interview
Three stages where you pair with nice people and learn about the product. You build something that would be relevant to the day to day job and then you do a system design round.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Runa (London, England) in May 2023
Interview
First round was behavioural with the recruiter, then proceeded to a technical interview with a senior engineer. You'll be given a heads up on the task to complete with clear instructions.
Thanks for your review. We're pleased to hear you had a positive experience and the instructions for the task were clear. We're passionate about ensuring every candidate is set up for success and hope this enabled you during the session.
If there is anything you feel we could improve we are always open to suggestions so feel free to drop a message to talent@runa.io if something comes to mind.
In the meantime, we wish you all the best for the future!
Best,

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Runa in Sept 2023
Interview
I applied online, after which a member of HR contacted me to arrange a screening call. The call involved explaining my skills, experience, reason for applying, as explaining more about the company and role. The first technical round is a live coding session with two engineers. The problem statement is a backend problem testing fundamental backend patterns which is relatively straightforward to solve. The intention of the round is to collaborate with the engineers and to demonstrate your professional software development knowledge (best practises, design patterns etc), whilst justifying your decisions and working with the engineers to improve your solution where possible. You'll be expected to incorporate tests, so ultimately this is a brief insight into how you'd produce a small piece of work in a real work environment. The second technical interview is a systems design interview. Once again, the intention is to collaborate effectively with the two engineers on the call to produce a reasonable solution to the problem statement. For me this was more challenging as I don't have much experience doing these, but the engineers were extremely helpful all the way and constantly challenged my ideas, which helped me justify and decide whether I was on the right track. Finally, there is a Values interview, which is based around your personality, intentions, goals and aspirations. The two engineers on the call want to know more about the things that aren't so obvious from your CV, and that haven't been uncovered from the previous rounds. This will include scenario based questions, your answers should be back by previous experiences you've had and actions you've taken. Throughout the whole process, there is exceptional support from the People/HR team, with constant feedback and updates, making sure you are bringing your best self to every interview. Can't recommend Runa enough. Whatever previous negativity was communicated is no longer relevant, it's all positive from my experience.
