First had phone interview with HR, set up through my university career center. Spoke with Marivel Morillo, who was very helpful and communicative throughout the whole process. When a position opened up, she invited me for an interview. I met with her in person, and then was brought to the specific lab. I met first with the PI, who asked standard research assistant questions: experience, educational background, etc. I was most interested in that he was looking for someone who was eager to learn science, rather than just do labwork. He asked about my future goals. I got to hang out with the current research assistants, which I enjoyed very much. I then was interviewed by a specific post-doc in the lab, who asked more specific questions about my laboratory experience and what exactly I was interested in doing. Lastly, I went back to Marivel to give my impressions of the interview. All in all, a very amicable process that was almost enjoyable, despite the anxiety.
