I had a phone screening with the recruiter, and it went smoothly. The following week, I interviewed with the hiring manager, and it turned out to be one of the strangest interviews I’ve ever had.
He asked me an unrelated question: “Imagine a car driving at 70 miles per hour with a helium balloon attached and fixed to the floor. If the car suddenly stops, what happens to the balloon?”
He also asked highly subjective questions where multiple answers could be valid, but the “right” one seemed to depend entirely on his own interpretation. For example: “You are in a conditioned room where everything is fine. If you suddenly move to the desert and there’s only one tree, what would you do first?” There were several other similar questions as well
I honestly couldn’t understand how these questions related to the job requirements or responsibilities.
