Before the interview they asked me to prepare a 2-3 minute presentation aimed at recruiting prospective new international students. I found this odd since the job description did not include mention of duties related to active student recruitment (i.e., traveling, making pitches, and closing the deal), but rather the duties were for the caseload management of actively enrolled students. I figured I would play along for now and learn more in the interview.
Upon arrival at the interview they allowed 10 minutes to review the interview questions and prepare responses. Entering the room, there were about 10 people on the interview panel, and after introducing themselves no one made small talk or lightened the mood at all. It was very by the book, which I understand, but which made for a very stuffy interview.
The presentation went by quickly, and I thought that 2-3 minutes was way too short for any sort of substantive presentation. There were no questions or comments about the presentation from the panel.
As for the interview questions, again they were mostly related to duties that were nowhere to be found in the job description. After my answers, there were no follow-up questions, just dead silence. After the 10 questions, I was told that the interview was over, and there was no time for any questions on my part, which I found strange.
I was told that they would get back to me by the end of the following week. I emailed to thank them the next day, and after not hearing from them for three weeks, I emailed to ask for an update, to no response. Haven't heard from them since.
