      Business Analyst Interview

      26 Oct 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Republic Services

      Interview

Applied online and was contacted by a recruiter for an initial screening. My first interview was with 2 managers and I was presented with situational scenarios and asked extensive questions about change management, communication with stakeholders, and business analysis processes. The second interview was a 'meet and greet' with the BA team and included many of the same questions, but more surrounding ability to work on a team. There was an opportunity at the end of both interviews to ask questions.

      Interview

Was not asked any question related to the role I applied for. They had SQL on the Job description only to start asking me questions about Oracle like they intend not to give me the job.

      Question 1

Are you skilled with Oracle? This role require you to be onsite about 4 times of the week. Does that work for you? What is your immigration type?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Republic Services (Scottsdale, AZ) in Feb 2014

      Interview

Was contacted by internal recruiter after applying on their web site. Phone interview scheduled and was asked basic questions about my past work experience. This interview took only about 20 minutes. A day or two later I was contacted about going into their office for a 1 hour meeting with 3 hiring managers. The hiring managers asked some pretty standard questions about different situations such as when a project may have gone bad or working with difficult people. They took turns asking questions from a list they had. They gave me time at the end to ask questions and the interview lasted exactly 1 hour. At that time I was told the next steps if asked to go on in the process would be to talk with other Business Analysts and possibly the IT Director. A few days later I was asked to come in for another one hour interview with the current business analysts. They also had a list of questions in which they took turns asking. These questions were also pretty standard situational questions as well such as tell me a time when you did not get very good direction on a project. This interview lasted about 45 minutes which also included time for me to ask questions at the end. I never heard back from them again. I certainly understand if something from their perspective was not a good fit but at least send a form letter telling me another candidate with better qualifications was hired. I think it shows something about the company if you put in time going to two onsite interviews and they never respond back at all. It may be just one person or department but it may be indicative of corporate culture.

      Question 1

Tell me a time when someone asked you to improve something about yourself at work and what did you do.
