I had a phone interview with HR, then was given a test edit creating one of their news videos for them. This was followed by a second in-person interview with HR and the department head, and a third in-person interview with the COO.
Everything had been going great and I had good impressions going forward. All communication and feedback was friendly, encouraging, and very prompt.
After the third interview, I received an email asking me to do ANOTHER test edit. This felt excessive, but everything had been positive, so I agreed to do it. They wanted a quick turnaround,
but I fit it into my schedule and turned it in several hours before the deadline.
Complete RADIO SILENCE from the team after submitting. Whereas every other step was met with an immediate, personable response, I now heard nothing.
A week later, I finally received a very cold, informal email. “Thank you for your time. We've decided not to move forward with your application.”
No further feedback or explanation.
I have to say, it’s very disappointing that they would put someone through such an unnecessary amount of interviews and editing tests, only to cut off communication and decline in such a cold, impersonal way. Asking someone to spend two full days editing for an interview is EXCESSIVE. If they were on the fence, they should’ve never asked for a second edit. The situation ended up being a huge waste of time and could’ve been handled a lot more gracefully.
