      Structural Engineering Intern Interview

      14 Oct 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Relativity Space (Los Angeles, CA) in Aug 2020

      Interview

First round was a technical interview with a manager, asked questions both involving structures and also space related but not necessarily about structures. Wasn't the most warming individual but overall was a fine interview.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Conceptual questions such as what happens to a candle that is lit in a spacecraft? You have two concentric pieces of material one is steel one is aluminum - how do they deform when an external load is applied to both at the same time? What is the elastic modulus of steel and aluminum? What is the difference between using a tape measure to measure something on the ground versus on the ceiling?
