The hiring process is quite lengthy. Once you have been chosen for a phone interview. You then have to submit a drug screen, MVR, school records, and background check. Once you've the background check and MVR clears you are then asked to come in for an in person interview. If all goes well you fill out your paperwork and start the following Monday.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Redbox in Feb 2011
Interview
Very low key meeting in a local McDonalds with the Area Supervisor and another local service tech. They bought me lunch and we discussed Redbox as a company and what the job requirements were. I was also allowed to ask questions and make suggestions to the area supervisor related to my experiences using Redbox.
All in all the process was very easy and straightforward. I did have a bit of an "in" as it were however, given the fact that a friend of mine was the current service tech and he was going to be moving out of state to become a area supervisor for the company.
