Being addressed by the wrong name, sent a calendar invite without consent, asked if I could relocate abroad and start within a week, and having the salary hidden, all in one “interview”!
The recruiter’s first email addressed me by the wrong name, not only incorrect, but probably of another candidate and also of the opposite gender. Just minutes later, I received another email with a calendar invite for a call the next day, without ever being asked about my availability. I replied to point out the name error and accepted the call, but I never received an acknowledgment or apology, not even during the call itself.
🚩 The interview was even more disappointing. The recruiter spoke very poor English with a loud voice, read directly from a script, and asked if I could relocate to Kuala Lumpur and start the following week! Something completely unrealistic for an international move that requires a proper interview, visa process and planning. When it came to salary, I was told there was “no budget range.” But when I pressed further, the recruiter responded, “maybe if you can share a number I can tell you if you’re right.” It felt like a guessing game where they clearly had a budget but refused to be transparent.
Overall, this was one of the most bizarre, non-transparent, and unprofessional interview experiences I had recently. For a company like Red Hat, this approach to talent is damaging to their reputation and deeply disappointing.
