I applied online through the Redbull careers site, one day later I received a link to their Wingfinder personality test. The test takes around an hour to complete, but you do receive a detailed report at the end which makes it feel a bit more worthwhile.
About 20 minutes after completing the test, I was emailed a link to complete a video interview within 3 days. The video interview used Hirevue, you are asked 7 pre-set questions, the same questions are asked to all candidates for any given role. I had 15 seconds to prepare the answer and then 30 seconds to answer.
I spent lots of time preparing and looking online to see what others had been asked, and had no concerns about the format until I started the interview and realised I only have 30 seconds to answer. Many of the other interview reviews seemed to state they had 30 seconds to prepare and 2 minutes to answer so I wasn't at all prepared for the format I was met with. As you might expect, you can't really convey anything in 30 seconds, let alone give a detailed answer. Despite my experience being a pretty much perfect match for the role, I knew I hadn't been able to clearly explain anything abut my background because of the time constraints.
So having spent 2 hours on a personality test and then video interview, and having never spoken with a human being, I received an email 2 days after the video interview to say I would not progress, without any feedback.
The whole process is very much lacking a human touch and expects candidates to jump through multiple hoops before speaking with an actual person. It's a shame as I know I would have been able to progress much further in a normal interview process as the role is an excellent match with my experience.
