      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Readify (Brisbane) in Apr 2019

      Interview

Readify's interview process is the most logical and efficient one I have ever experienced so far. It has four steps. It begins with an auto online test. It basically asks you to implement an API by using your own hosting environment and their system will hit your end points with heaps of test cases. You're not going to move to next step until you reach at least 71 out of 100. This step pretty much filters out quite a few unqualified developers who do not know how to implement and deploy an API. The API itself is pretty straight forward, nothing fancy or tricky, just be aware with the test cases they might fire out. It would be beneficial if you write you own unit testing codes to test your methods first as this online test doesn't have time limit, nor attempt limit. Next step is a live coding interview. You will be asked to share your screen with a senior role, and your task is to complete a simple project in about 45 minutes. Here is some tips, first, since you're sharing your screen, it is worth while to clean up your desktop and task bar. People can tell what kind of person you're from your desktop or the frequent IDEs pinned on you task bar. Second, due to the time limit in this interview, your number one priority is to finish building the functionality, so don't spend time TDD, go to write the classes and methods straight away, unless you're very confirm that you can write your unit testing codes very fast. The task itself is pretty easy too, some basic logic of coding will do so don't over engineer it. Interviewer is unlikely to ask you a lot of questions during your coding so you can concentrate on what you are doing. It's okay to search StackOverflow if you really need help. At this stage it is advantageous if you can show some advanced coding skills. Once you pass this interview, it comes to the technical interview which is the most challenging one among these three. There will be a senior role interviewing you remotely. I would strongly recommend you to prepare yourself thoroughly in advance. Truly understand design patterns, SOLID principal, unit testing, CI / CD, TDD, DDD, Microservices, etc. The purpose of this interview is to see how wide and deep your knowledge and skills are, so you should expect to see some really difficult technical questions, this interview will last more than an hour. The last interview is the management interview in person if you pass the third challenge. This one has nothing to do with your techniques, it's mostly likely to be an interview of your personality and attitude, etc. The part I appreciate the most during the interviews is they always give you feedback on next day doesn't matter if you pass or not, and these advices are helpful to your career if you really want to be a top talented programmer. So take them seriously and "refactor" yourself.
