      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Raycon (New York, NY) in Mar 2022

      Interview

I had two interviews with Raycon and didn't get a third. The interviewers were casual and the first interviewer asked some intriguing questions. The third interview was with one of the stakeholders that I did not get. I enjoyed the interviews.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Raycon (New York, NY) in Jan 2019

      Interview

I interviewed here in 2019 - the interview went well & it was a standard process. The only thing I would caution is the work environment setup and also the salary/benefits being offered. I understand at the time it was more of a startup business mentality, so hopefully things have improved?...But I recently saw new job postings here and there are still some red flags. So I feel like I need share my experience & thoughts here for the protection of those applying. For the lavish style that Ray J lives and the amount that has been shared in the press (which to be fair, not sure how accurate this is) but for how much he was offered with this deal to run/invest in Raycon...he should really think twice about investing in a better work environment setup and better salary/benefit options for designer, video & creative director positions in the New York location. The work environment: it was literally a room in the back corner of a product store (which I won’t name) & no windows to outside, only 1 window inside into the workspace. To be honest this was probably once a storage room/closet that now turned into “an office space” & the ceiling in room is very low. If your above 5’5”-6ft tall you are going to definitely need to duck to walk around in the room… no joke. All the employees were literally crammed in this room with folding tables setup as desk space and side by side each other. As for salaries: being offered for Senior Designers, Video and Directors are pretty low and I don’t think benefits are available through some of these positions. Lastly, during the interview process, I was told the work hours were very long, possible some weekends. Which is fine, but again the setup and salaries don’t match up to putting in long hours. Advice: I think Ray J/Raycon has great products and has the potential to actually thrive and do well. But again the work environment setup & salaries being offered for the employees are giving off major “Sweat shop” vibes & questionable. Ray J – I’m doing you a favor writing this, so that you’re not slapped with a labor lawsuit. I truly do want you to succeed. Post – corona pandemic/2021 - seriously think about investing in a better workspace. In NY - Starting salaries for Senior Designers are at least $60-70K, Video $70K-100K, Creative Directors $100K+ (esp if you’re not going to offer benefits and if work hours exceed 40+!) I get it - you are starting a business, so startup setups are not going to be perfect… but this is New York, cost of living is way higher here. I think with your lavish lifesyle you can cut corners/budget a little and put that spending in investing towards your business and the well being of your staff and work environment! You can do it & you’ll succeed even better!;) Best of luck!
