      Sales and Service Representative Interview

      13 May 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Mississauga, ON
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at RBC (Mississauga, ON) in May 2014

      Interview

Applied online through their careers section for both the inbound and outbound position but was only contacted to proceed with application for outbound position. Received email a week and a half later to complete an online assessment (series of calls (about 4 or 5) you would answer and enter the customers account information as they spoke and help them with their inquiry - pretty easy but its timed so make sure you do the practice question to get a feel for the software). Online assessment also included a bunch of personality type questions (which describes you best etc.. and a timed set of questions assessing how well you can analyze information [looking up information in chart]). A week after I completed the online assessment, I was contacted by HR to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview was scheduled for the next day. Phone interview consisted of a series of basic questions; - why are you interested in working for RBC - what's the biggest challenge you think you will face in the role - whats your biggest strength - what skills do you think would be required to be successful in sales - how did you hear about this opportunity - are you comfortable working the required hours (2pm-11pm) - are you comfortable with the salary ($32000 starting, no negotiations) - tell me a bit about your experience at (blank) --> each of the positions you listed on resume After doing the phone interview, I was told that I should expect to hear back within 10 days through email if i'd be moving onto next round. Received an email less than an hour later saying that she would like to schedule an in-person interview with me with the hiring manager. Went in for in-person interview 5 days later. Interviewer went over a lot of the same questions as phone interviewer but went into more depth. Asked about my sales experience in each role, how comfortable i am with rejection on calls, how I multitask, why RBC, long-term goals, tell me about a time when.. etc. pretty basic questions, none were technical competency based, all behavioural. At the end, went over the logistics of the job, how the training works, the timeline, etc. She said I'd be contacted within a week to let me know the results. The interviewer was friendly but wasn't good at keeping the interview in a conversation style. It was back and fourth question/answer without much of a conversation; be sure to keep your answers concise because she will interrupt or cut you off if you try to explain yourself any further than she asked

      Interview

You got a personal evaluation questionnaire, a webcam meeting, a test on your ability of following instructions, and a group interview. Every step is very clear and straight-forward. It did take some time to complete them all, for me it was about 1 month. Tell the true while you envision you're doing your job.
