In the interview, it was just getting to know me, my desire to work there, and included questions about my teaching, for example, “how would you best engage a younger child? how would you teach a child differently than a 13-year-old?” Then, you had about 3-5 demo classes where you’d teach kids and they’d provide feedback.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you engage a young child differently than an adolescent?
I applied online. I interviewed at Qkids (Richmond, KY) in Aug 2016
Interview
So here's the breakdown of the hiring/training process:
step 1
Send me your resume, hours of availability and days, computer specifications (found under computer then system or software) **has to meet JiuQu specifications
Step 2 (could add this with step to step one just to be a step ahead) you will send in a one minute video telling the kids a story be very enthusiastic when you are telling the story. I told little red riding hood. Someone else I know told the hungry caterpillar. For this part I suggest writing down the story in big letters behind your camera so you can read hands free. This way you're not just looking at a book and reading. Much more effective this way. Also, send in a video about yourself. Who you are. What your education level is. What your experience is etc.
Step 3 Download the application QQ international it looks like a penguin! Be sure to download this immediately!
Wechat has a lot of issues depending on the type of phone you have. Try WeChat but I had a very bad experience with it. I would download both to be safe.
Training....
step 3: you are scheduled for training within the next day or two. During the first training you will go over the buttons and how to teach a class. I suggest you watch the training video a couple of times because it's very fast.
Step 4: training part two- you will teach a class. They will be observing you in class. They may send you suggestions throughout class so do not be alarmed. One big thing is I typed up some notes to have ready. You may need to look back at those to remember what you need to do. You need to spend an average of 3 minutes in each section maybe longer if you have less than 9 sections. You have to teach exactly 30 minutes. You also should look over your class before you begin so you know what you are teaching and practice beforehand. That means after your training please request to have access to your class so that you can practice doing your lesson a few times before you teach! This is so important please do this!! You should also look over the demo video a few times. Pay close attention to the buttons. Also, it is important to pay attention to the types of teaching methods like they to see.
Step 5: you will begin teaching classes or have an additional training. They will monitor you for the first couple of days or weeks you start class.
Interviewed in 2018 so the process could be different. But from personal experience, first you submit a video of yourself reading a children's book for your application. Then you have to download the app WeChat and the Qkids Teacher App. The stages for the hiring process are two demo interviews and trial classes (trial classes are paid).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Interviewer pretended to be a student and interviewee had to teach a mock lesson in the online classroom that they provide.
I applied online. I interviewed at Qkids (Greensboro, NC) in May 2021
Interview
Step 1) Send a brief video of introduction and teaching style.
Step 2) Demo 1 was about 20 min long with a very polite lady who made sure that I knew how to navigate the
teaching tools on the platform. She also evaluated my understanding of the teaching objectives on each slide. She would pretend to be a young student and we would run through the main points of the lesson, while using the teaching functions.
Step 3) Demo 2, which involved more teaching techniques and a Q&A session. The teaching coach gave me scenarios that would occur in an online classroom setting and tested my classroom management skills, and teaching style.
She gave me tips and guided me through some unfamiliar platform functions and coached me on time management. This all took about 30 minutes total.
