I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Pure Networks (Mountain View, CA) in Nov 2015
Interview
Just off the phone with hiring manager regarding a "Software Reliability Engineer" position. Despite misgivings about a non-development role, I took the interview because of a lingering interest in work that had driven my M.S. thesis and subsequent publications some years back. My hope was that there could be serious work modeling system and code performance/reliability/availability, and then finding and fixing bottlenecks. No such luck. It's effectively an engineering lab management gig. I would prefer to regard this as merely a mistake, but it's the third time a different recruiter has tried to shoehorn me into positions well beneath my experience level and on the periphery of the engineering organization itself. Between these experiences and the self-rhetoric about the company and employment there, I have to say, they seem quite full of themselves.
