      HR Operations Lead Interview

      5 Sept 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Pupil Progress in Aug 2024

      Interview

I interviewed for a role in the HR team with someone from the Brand team at Pupil Progress in early August. The screening call was reasonably engaging, though unfortunately plagued by technical difficulties at their end and I don't think the interviewer had a great deal of knowledge about the role, possibly as they were from a very different area. I was informed that I would hear back very soon about the next steps. Despite following up three times after nearly a month since my interview, I have still yet to receive a response. Given the significant time and effort I invested in my application, I was particularly disappointed by the lack of communication. It's highly unprofessional to leave candidates hanging. The practice of "ghosting" candidates is outdated and demonstrates either disorganisation from hiring teams or a lack of empathy for their candidates involved who've shown an interest in their business. While Pupil Progress seemed like a promising organisation, it's clear there's some improvement needed to build on the candidate experience and their talent proposition.

      Pupil Progress response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate your interest in joining Pupil Progress and are sorry to hear about your experience. As explained during our call, the delay in the recruitment process was due to some unavoidable staff annual leave which we place and value highly for our team. We do acknowledge however how this could have caused frustration. Additionally, we apologise for the technical difficulties during the call, which were caused by a poor signal on our end. We're taking steps to prevent such disruptions in the future. Regarding your comment about the interview, this was an initial pre interview call and was intended to gain a better understanding of your experience and background. Please know that the full details of the role and its requirements are always outlined comprehensively during the subsequent stages of the interview process. We sincerely regret the communication gap after your initial call and agree that candidates should be kept updated. We will take your feedback into account to ensure we improve our candidate experience moving forward. We hope this response clarifies the situation, and we thank you again for your interest in Pupil Progress, and wish you all the best in your job search.
