I applied through a recruiter. The job wasn't a perfect match for me because it required decent front-end experience, but I had mostly back-end experience (over 13 years of it to be specific). But I thought I'd give it a shot, sometimes companies are flexible enough - I've seen that happen to me personally. Worse case scenario I'd get a "your skills do not match the job description answer", which is totally fine. However, the reply I got stunned me (this is a quote from the email):
"His experience (most recent included) doesn’t give me any hope that he could even pass the technical tests. I have very little hope of anyone who’s spent time “inside” any of the big banks. Rodney".
WOW!. Just wow! Ruling out anyone working for a big bank? What's even more funny is that out of my 13 years of experience, working "inside" the big bank was only under a year. Sheesh, something on my resume must have ticked that guy off. So yeah, there we have it. Apparently anyone that ever worked for a bank gets automatically disqualified. Good job Prophix!
