      Claims Adjuster Interview

      Application

      Interview

The interview is long, and if you're not prepared for that then don't waste your time or theirs. I had originally applied online and filled out an application be honest on this because the background check is extremely accurate. Following this is a personality/general IQ test that is very easy if you have a decent understanding of what they look for in most job testing. After about a day you get a email to schedule a phone interview I scheduled mine for my lunch break thinking it would be enough time; my time frame was longer than I expected and this was because this was hands down the best interview I had ever experienced (prior to my in person interview) I learned so much and although it was nerve racking the recruiter definitely was passionate about Progressive we talked a lot about the company (KEY: do your research not only will be surprise about Progressive's history, but it will make you stand out if you do a larger amount than just who the CEO is) the recruiter gave me tips on my resume and tips on how to do good in the next interview after he told me I would be moving forward. I started the background check and I must say this is more stressful than the whole process, it's long and you have to provide a lot of information and be prepared for them to call every past employer so if you have a bad rep try and clear it up in your phone interview. It took a while to schedule my in person interview but the recruiter kept up with me often to keep me from worrying. I arrived to the corporate Progressive building in my town and met with the district manager and the claims manager locally. They asked typical STAR questions, but also really test your personality to make sure you have what it takes and mesh with the company well. I was the youngest of all people interviewing and knew that was my weakness but also my strength. You need to be prepared to be innovative and learn everything in a whole new way for this job and show them that. I wowed them with the knowledge I knew about the company and they even told me that. My interview was long, but that's because you need to go into extreme detail and really talk with them and get to know them. I feel my interview was longer than most and I had good feelings walking out. They told me it would take two weeks to hear anything, but then the district manager said actually expect about a week. I got a call exactly a week later (once my background check was finally over after two weeks) and was asked about my experience during the process and felt that since we weren't getting to a yes or no I thought they were giving me a rejection call, but then she said I have good news and offered me a position at rather high pay and gave me a good final run down on what to expect as the time goes on until I start. I grew up in this industry and had previously applied for Geico (horrible experience turned down for being too young after putting my age on the application), and I must say although Progressive's process is long it is beneficial in learning and knowledge for future job opportunities, and even if I didn't receive the position I still would've left positive feeling like they left a mark on me for future attempts. Please don't take them rejecting you as them being a bad company.

      Interview

The interview process is pretty strenuous. You do have an assessment that you have to take. Before you get the in person interview. After you do the assessment you do have virtual star question method questions that you have to answer. If you don’t do well with that you won’t get the final interview with the recruiter or hiring person. Definitely study STAR questions. They’re kinda hard. And then the final interview they do ask you a few star questions as well. You can use the ones from your virtual interview. It was really easy-going though. I did appreciate how easy the conversation was for the final interview.
