I applied online. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance
Interview
Very impersonal and did not get to speak to someone in person everything was video recorded. It took a long time for them to finally decline my video interview. That's it
Interview
The interview and hiring process was drawn out and took a little over a month. The video recorded interview seemed impersonal. I thought the hour-long interview with the live representative went play but there were awkward and uncomfortable silences from the interviewer. At first they seemed impressed by my answers but there was no connection or rapport. I followed the STAR format as best I could, and even asked the interviewer if I seemed qualified for the role and they agreed. I then received that rejection email almost immediately. The kicker is that I gave the exact same answers during my live interview as I did during the recorded one. So why was I selected for the live interview? It means the interviewer was lying when they said I could use the same examples and that I was qualified for the role. I’m not sure why I would want to work for a company that has such a disconnected and dishonest hiring system anyway.

The interview process is pretty strenuous. You do have an assessment that you have to take. Before you get the in person interview. After you do the assessment you do have virtual star question method questions that you have to answer. If you don’t do well with that you won’t get the final interview with the recruiter or hiring person. Definitely study STAR questions. They’re kinda hard. And then the final interview they do ask you a few star questions as well. You can use the ones from your virtual interview. It was really easy-going though. I did appreciate how easy the conversation was for the final interview.
