You begin with an initial assessment where they use a behavioral analysis test. This seems to look for people who are decisive. Once you pass this you'll then be invited to do a one-way video interview, again, a lot of STAR based behavioral type questions.
About a week later I was invited to do a panel interview but there was only one person interviewing me. I will get intimate about the interview process because I feel it's needed. I currently work for a very large IA firm and was just exploring options and landed a couple of interviews, this being one.
I want to say, the live interview (final), the lady was quite snobby and very corporate-ish. It's amazing what they expect of someone for a entry level low paying job. She initially spoke on the pay and expectations. Pay for this position and location was right at $52k salary after training. You were expected to work every Saturday and the position is hybrid, so some days in office.
She then asked me some cookie cutter questions that you are required to answer in the STAR format. I answered these questions decisively and passionately, but I felt as if there were disconnect with the interviewer.
Prior to the STAR questions I was asked to describe myself and my work history and what led me to where I was. I was honest and let her know that I currently make around $30k more than this position and I was really just throwing stuff at the wall and wanted to see what stuck, but in a more elegant manner. I think she knew at that time I probably wouldn't accept the position.
I ended up not being offered a position which I was not worried about, again, I work full time currently and am always exploring my options.
Overall, I would giver the interviewer a 3/10 on their interviewing skills. The whole process, 7/10, as it weeds out the undesirables pretty quickly.
If I had to take an objective stance on why I didn't receive an offer, it's probably because I already have experience in the industry and have built in my ways of how I deal with clients and policies. Progressive is looking for someone they can mold.
