The first round interview is intended to be a meet and greet to see if there is a mutual fit between the company and the interviewee. This is so we can learn a little more about you and vice versa. Not every applicant makes it past this round. That would not be in the best interest of the candidates or our hiring managers. We typically hire entry-level positions that do not require experience in our industry. With that said, regardless of career background we do look for similar characteristics in the individuals we bring on the team - things like work ethic, dependability, professionalism, etc. We like to think we have an open-minded approach to interviewing candidates rather than "hire anyone with any background". We take pride in the diversity in our team members - Hopefully that clears up your misconception.
